In an era when computer viruses are used for espionage and interstate when they become a means of achieving the objectives of huge and expensive, it is useful to recall how it all began.

The first virus

First computer virus mentioned in 1949. In the work of John von Neumann, who was at the University of Illinois gave a lecture on "Theory and Organization of complex machines.
At that time, the term "computer virus" has not even been coined, and von Neumann was in class talking about how a computer program can be designed to self reproduce.
Later, in consequence labor "theory for self-reproduce machines", and Neumann was named the "father of computer virology".
But first functional virus for personal computing - Brain (Brain), emerged only 1986th and was quite rudimentary.
Significantly different from today's - and his goal and the way was made was very different.
For starters, its creators, and Faruk Alvi brothers from Pakistan, not that they did not hide that they are the creators, but left their signature in the program code of the virus. The two of them - as opposed to today's creators of computer viruses - successful businessmen, owners of companies that provide Internet services Telecommunications Ltd Brain.

Brain virus is otherwise a fairly harmless. At that time, the Internet has not yet been widely used, so the virus is transmitted - only on the PC, the DOS operating system - via floppy disk.
Launched when it starts, and a floppy disk, and left a message like this: Welcome to the Dungeon (c) 1986 Basit & Amjad (pvt) ltd. Brain Computer Services. Then followed the address by their phone numbers, and finally a warning: "Beware of the virus. Contact us for vaccination." The virus was not harmful to the victim. It's really just changed labels Drive where it is located. Awarded name for this virus was “Brain”.
