Lumigrids is the name of the LED projector that is connected to the bike and it shows a square grid on the ground pointing to the hole, potentially dangerous to the safety of the driver.
Lumigrids won the 'best of the best' in the coveted Red Dot Design Award for year 2012.
Scientists have devised a LED projector that can be attached to the bike and helps cyclists to safer drive at night.
The projector produces a square grid on the ground in front of the bike and every changing of the surface shape changes and form networks, and thus the driver can spot potential hazards that can occur in front of the bike. Chinese inventors came up with the idea because they felt that the traditional lights on the bike actually hinder the driver's assessment.
On a flat surface network is composed of regular squares, while the rough surface it takes the form of holes or other irregularities in the way. So the driver by monitoring the deformation of the mesh in front of you can easily "read" what is the state of the road in front of him.
The network also makes the bike more visible at night, thus reducing the possibility of collisions and accidents with other participants in traffic.
Lumigrids is embedded in the steering wheel bike, and can be recharged by turning the pedals (the movement of the bike) or an internal battery that is in the device itself. The device consists of a single button so as not to distract the driver's attention while driving. It can adjust the three modes of action network intended different driving situations: the normal way - 14x18cm, quick way - 14x26 cm, and team mode - 30x20 cm (the size of the network).
For now, the creators of Lumigrid did not announced when the present invention is found in the free market and how much it will cost.
