It seems, Valve, the people behind the popular game Half-Life, Laft4Dead and more popular client Steam, will offer the operating system that is designed for gaming in the living room or in front of the big screens.

Free Steam OS combines the Steam platform and Linux OS. Valve explains that despite the current games that are tailored for Linux, people should expect hundreds AAA and indie games in 2014. Steam OS, and your games will be optimized for browsing and playing on the big screen by shooting Big Picture, and the present will be the opportunity for in-home streaming, and viewing or listening to movies and music.
Valve explains that SteamOS have achieved significant improvements in processing and graphics that developers even now exploit such thing for optimizing their Linux versions. If you visit the promo website you will notice that the recently announced Family Sharing option is never omitted.
